Financing Upstream Oil and Gas

Anslem Oshionebo serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Haricot Energies Limited, and leads the company's team as Project Lead on its upstream opportunities. He brings more than two decades of experience across finance, strategy and oil and gas consulting. A mining engineering graduate with a strong grounding in natural resources, including oil and gas, he combines technical fluency with commercial judgment across the US and Nigerian markets, setting the team's direction and aligning financial strategy with operational delivery, stakeholder management and regulatory compliance.

Technical and financial expertise in one company

Haricot Energies is an oil and gas company built on dual-track expertise. Its team brings more than 130 years of combined experience across upstream exploration, drilling and well engineering, geology and geophysics, regulatory compliance and corporate finance, with a track record spanning Nigeria, the United States and international markets. In a sector where technical credibility and financial discipline rarely sit in the same room, Haricot brings both.

Backed by capital partners

Haricot operates in active partnership with venture capital firms, investment institutions and established international oil and gas companies, including Hephzibah and Regions Oil and Gas. Those partnerships give the company the reach to structure, fund and deliver upstream assets from evaluation through development.

Positioned for Nigeria's licensing rounds

The company is positioned to compete for and deliver upstream opportunities across onshore, shallow water and deep offshore terrains, including licensing rounds administered under Nigeria's Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) framework. Its senior leadership team of finance, engineering and geoscience professionals each brings 15 to more than 20 years of industry experience, several with backgrounds in Big Four advisory practices, international oil and gas operators and regulatory bodies in Nigeria and the United States.

Capabilities

Technical:

  • Seismic acquisition and interpretation
  • Basin evaluation and reservoir characterization
  • Drilling programme design and well integrity management
  • Exploration risk assessment

Financial and regulatory:

  • Project finance and capital raising
  • Commercial structuring of upstream contracts
  • Financial modelling and valuation
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance strategy
  • Enterprise risk management

Why it matters

Anslem's own career mirrors the company's model. He began as a field engineer with experience in oil and gas and construction management, built his finance career at PwC in Nigeria and the United States, and has advised oil and gas companies on regulatory compliance, licensing, reporting obligations and operational strategy. That combination is what lenders, investors and regulators look for when deciding which upstream assets get developed.
